On Dec. 1, 1923, dam forming artificial lake of Gleno collapsed and freed impounded waters; about 6,540,000 cu. yd. of water rushed into valley below; from that time onward extra precautions were taken to make sure that new dams should not fail; precautions consisted in solidifying rock beds of dams by injecting fluid cement grout into all possible cracks or cavities in rock.
