Effects of density ratio on sedimentary similitude
Question of whether or not significant similarity can be achieved in movable bed model with different value of density ratio from that in prototype is examined; equation of motion of particle falling in vertically oscillating column of fluid is made dimensionless by linear scale which minimizes effect of density ratio; it is shown that average fall velocity of particle in such circumstances is less than its terminal settling velocity in still fluid.
