Strength and ductility properties of vacuum rolled steels
Steel types S65A, 50KhFA and 40Kh heated and rolled in vacuum with relative reductions of from 10 to 45% have higher ductility than when rolled in air, and their ultimate tensile strength and yield points decrease; this makes it possible to eliminate annealing and pickling operations before drawing; hot rolling of these steels in vacuum yields metal without scale and promotes its purification from chemically active gases and damaging admixtures. (see also English translation in Stal in English n 1 Jan 1968 p 43-4)
