Strength gain phenomenon in earthen embankment construction
Rate of strength-gain during consolidation or settlement of subsoil due to embankment loads was studied for construction of embankments on soils of very low shear strength or bearing capacity; black cotton and kaolinitic soils were selected for laboratory investigations of strength-gain at different percentage of consolidation under different load-increments.
