Statistical quality control in highway construction
Study in California to determine variance due to sampling and testing as well as variance inherent in material being studied by statistical quality control methods; it was found that present specifications are too restrictive and consequently are not being met; it is theoretically possible to use established statistical control procedures for control of many construction items and no great technical breakthrough is required.
