Construction of experimental jointless prestressed concrete road
450 m long road consists of 175 m long center slab, two 87.5-m side slabs, and two 45-m massive end anchorages; new ideas applied in its construction include use of cement with very low expansion coefficient, installation of antifriction layer (polyethylene foil and kraft paper) between foundation and pavements, use of turnbuckles for pretensioning, acceleration of concrete's creep by applying prestress at onset of hardening, and absence of longitudinal joint; data on road's behavior during 30 mo of exploitation are presented.
