Statistical study of asphaltic-concrete
Typical New Jersey State Dept of Transportation construction project was selected to establish average values and variability parameters for asphaltic pavement material characteristics; FORTRAN computer program was used to perform analysis; findings indicate that for New Jersey, field testing alone cannot as yet supplant laboratory testing as basis for final judgment on material compliance; it was found that in general, asphaltic-concrete specifications, for construction project studied, dealt fairly with material supplier allowing sufficiently for natural variabilities encountered.
