Research on road bitumen
Properties required in paving grade bitumens are outlined, and description is given of how these properties are controlled by broad chemical composition of bitumen; durability studies are carried out on bitumens to assess how they change during mixing-laying process and to forecast changes expected to occur during life of road mix; full-scale experiments and changes which have occurred during mixing-laying process and after 4 yr in service are described.
