Harnessing Bourg-les-Valences fall on Rhone river
Work forms part of project to create North Sea-Mediterranean waterway and has three-fold purpose -- production of electric power, navigation, and irrigation; structure extends 25 km along river and comprises 15 km long reservoir, dam, 7.6 km long inlet channel, overflow discharge canal, 180,000 kw power station, lock for passage of 3000 ton convoys, and tail race; description of power station foundation on blue marl, prestressing of dam piers, hydraulic arrangement of section common to inlet channel and river.
