How to anchor retaining walls in chalk
Method for placing anchors in soft chalk subject to high design loading conditions; 4-in, diam hole is drilled and cased at 45° angle through sand and gravel and at least 2 ft into chalk; slightly larger diameter hole is drilled beyond this point further into chalk until stable zone is reached, outside possible influence of excavation; anchorage cable consists of several 1/2 in. diam steel strands sheathed in protective coating of polypropylene over elastic length of anchor.
