A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Charts are presented for use in design of valve-closure programs to minimize water-hammer effects following power failure in centrifugal pump systems; valve-closure program consists of rapid closure to specified opening at time of flow reversal, followed by linear motion to full closure during period of five time intervals following flow reversal; chart is presented for use in determining maximum head at pump; other techniques of water-hammer control and their limitations are discussed.
