A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Evaluation of forces on structures due to tsunami-generated bores; investigation is limited to two-dimensional bores advancing over dry bed, and striking vertical wall at right angle; description of surge shape is developed, and results of water-wedge theory are used to predict force and pressure distribution on wall; theoretical results are compared, over limited range, with experimental data; equation developed gives good description of shape of surge tip, for conditions encountered in laboratory.
