Short rounds lick mica schist on fast tunnel job
Drilling short rounds enabled successful tunneling in black mica schist; 742 ft of tunnel at Tuckasegee River in North Carolina was driven in 20 working days from single heading; between 200 and 250 lb of gelatin were loaded in 52 holes; tunnel is ventilated by blowers supplemented by fans.
