Hydraulic conductivity of uniform, stratified, and mixed sands
In design of recharge facilities in unconsolidated sands one should consider that in uniform sands velocity and hydraulic conductivity increase linearly with increase in grain size for size range 0.10 to 1.00 mm; although porosities vary only slightly in 4 uniform sands, velocity and conductivity values cover considerable range because of size of pores; particle rearrangement of soil-water interface may significantly reduce infiltration.
