Rational method of speeding up steel production
It is shown how definite improvement of about 50% in output of open hearth steel can be achieved by increasing weight of charge in existing furnaces, improving thermal conditions by means of moderate amounts of oxygen, and eliminating bottlenecks in furnace bay; accelerating steelmaking by means of large amounts of oxygen is more expedient in case of converters. (See also English translation in Stal in English n 5 May 1963 p 351-2)
