Continuous casting of 140-ton heats of steel on 4-strand machine
Using killed carbon steel containing less than 0.18% C and 0.030% S, slabs of satisfactory quality are obtained; slab section is 175-200 × 700-1000 mm; subsequent rolling into 5-20 mm thick plate makes it possible to increase yield by about 10% (as compared with rolling of conventional slabs into plate).
