Note on stability of cuttings in normally consolidated clays
Factor of safety against undrained failure of slope cut in ideal normally consolidated clay whose undrained shear strength increases linearly with depth, depends not upon height but only upon inclination of slope, and bulk density of clay; calculation of factor of safety is facilitated by use of stability number which is related to slope inclination alone.
