Hydraulic hoe puts on good show
Trench in recently completed storm sewer line up to 36 in. diam, and 8-in. sanitary sewer in Racine, Wisc, was dug by large all-hydraulic hoe consisting of Koehring model 505 equipped with 2-yd Esco bucket and extra-wide 36 in. crawlers; safety device composed of 3 box sections, 4, 6 and 10 ft high can be stacked on top each other to give protection against walls up to about 25 ft high; side cutters added additional 9 in. on each side of basic outside width of 50 in.; pipe laying operations described.
