Chemical grouting successful in ICBM construction
Grouting was employed at Atlas, Titan and other sites to permit excavation through saturated, fine grained sands and silts, to seal off water flowing through construction joints or lift joints in concrete silos and groundwater leaking into small underground concrete pipes, and to waterproof bolted seams of corrugated metal tunnel liners where excessive leaks developed; importance of materials and techniques employed for successful grouting at missile sites.
