Paper reviews basic flow properties of asphalts and presents experimental data on effect of shear rate on viscosity of paving asphalts at various temperatures; oversimplified flow or rheological patterns of asphalts presented are intended primarily to create awareness of basic parameters and engineering yardsticks which will lead to better understanding of asphalt pavement behaviors and their use in pavement design.
