Overturning factor of safety for retaining walls
Reference made to definition of safety factor and to many design procedures which evaluate resistance moment in incorrect and unsafe way; simple yet correct procedure is proposed; conditions with linear stress distribution; ultimate resistance moment; equation given is suggested as standard requirement for stability analysis of retaining walls and other similar structures resting upon cohesive soils, and with trial and error procedure for noncohesive soils.
