Kerr Dam, in Mecklenburg County, Va, 2785-ft concrete structure of gravity type, is 144 ft high; adjacent earth wing is 45 ft high; 650,000 cu yd of stone were taken from quarry with 20-ft working face; holes for blasting were drilled 20 ft deep, loaded with 60% ammonia gelatin dynamite in bottom and 40% ammonia gelatin dynamite on top.
