Moving Neosho river bridge on Santa Fe railway
East abutment of single 220-ft span bridge carrying Ottawa Junction-Emporia section of Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway was threatened by floods in July 1951, which slightly altered course of river; decision was made to move 800-ton span 50 ft, and to provide for additional spill flood water by extending bridge by four 50-ft spans eastwards and one 50-ft span westward.
