Solidification of iron-phosphorus-carbon alloys
Structure arising from solidification process in ternary alloys may differ considerably from conventional eutectic pattern; in place of normal ledeburite, phosphorus in small amounts causes formation of degenerate eutectic structure and in large amounts gives rise to austenite dendrites and cementite of hypereutectic appearance. (See also - discussion p 327-32; Iron and Steel Inst -- J v 176 pt 4 Apr 1954 p 382-4; (discussion) v 178 pt 2, 4 Oct p 153-61, Dec p 369-73)
