Experience with bridge prestressing methods
Massachusetts Dept of Public Works investigated four differently prestressed concrete bridges; structures with spans of 65, 64, 58, and 59 ft were prestressed with three 1 9/16-in. diam bridge strands having threaded fittings on ends for anchoring; fabricating prestressed concrete beam required 57, 72, 77, and 64.2 man hours for Roebling method, Prestressed Concrete Corp, Freyssinet method and Lee-McCall method, respectively.
