Field tests were conducted on steel H-piling driven through medium clay to end bearing in very hard soil; 10CBP42 pile, was instrumented at intervals throughout length with strain gages; pile was loaded in increments according to prescribed load testing procedure and then unloaded in decrements; second loading cycle was carried out in same manner except that it was continued until pile failed.
