A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Tests made on mortars in which percentages of cement, lime, and sand were varied considerably; it was found that addition of lime to cement mortars increased water requirement for same consistency, very nearly in proportion to percentage of lime added, that shrinkage is increased by addition of extra water; therefore, where low shrinkage is of prime importance, lime should be limited.
