A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
In relation to tests and experiences in sinking deep shafts by freezing process, author discusses advantages of compound shaft lining consisting either of column of tubing with outer sheath of reinforced concrete, or of two columns of tubbing with concrete between; main advantage of compound construction is much greater strength with regard to bending stresses.
