Determination of soluble silica in cements, mortars and concretes
Cement or mortar is added, little by little, to 50 to 60 cc. of cold hydrochloric acid; solution is filtered and silica in filtrate rendered insoluble in usual manner; if small quantity of soluble silica is precipitated, residue is treated with a warm sodium carbonate solution, this extract being added to main filtrate.
