With necessary approaches on both sides of bay to make connections with existing county roads, bridge project has total length of 6 1/2 miles; main structure between marsh lands on either side has total length of 6305 ft. made up of nine steel-truss spans each 222 ft. 9 in. long, supported on ten concrete piers, and 122 steel-girder spans each 35 ft. long supported on concrete pile bents; truss spans are of Pratt type.
