Present flexible pavement techniques for construction and improvement of high traffic-density roadways
Classic examples of bituminous pavements built in France, England, Belgium, Italy and Germany show that present trend is towards 20 to 25 cm thick layer of bituminous mix over cement-stabilized foundation, and 3 to 10 cm thick asphalt concrete surfacing; some other applications of flexible pavements are mentioned, such as frost protection of lower soil layers and protection of river embankments against erosion from runoff.
