Wind-induced stresses on water surfaces -- Wind-tunnel study
In order to study effect of wind on monomolecular films spread on surface of open water storage to reduce evaporation, small laboratory wind tunnel was constructed; investigation is reduced to study of surface shearing stress induced by wind; values of surface stress were obtained from velocity profile of wind above water surface, measured values of surface slope of setup, and spreading characteristics of surface films.
