Bonneville dam stilling basin repaired after 17 years' service
When dam was designed, it was expected that it would be necessary to replace baffles in stilling basin at about 15 yr intervals; in 1954 cofferdam was constructed and one half of stilling basin unwatered; concrete was in better condition than expected; test and experiments were conducted to determine how conditions could be improved; repair work was completed and cofferdam removed in 1955.
