Soluble salts in masonry and suggested remedies
It is claimed that soluble salts (sulphates) of brick and burned lime do not originate usually in raw materials themselves, but are formed during burning process; tests show that, by addition of required amount of barium oxide to mortar, sulphate efflorescence, even in masonry, can be prevented.
