Paper describes particular instance of deterioration of concrete surfaces due to contact with moorland waters, its effect on design and construction of hydroelectric installations, and gives some particulars of series of tests carried out to ascertain best materials for resisting such action; acidity of moorland water; action of water of various acidities on cements; types of protective coatings for concrete.
