Watertight lining of shaft in unstable ground
Author considers conditions and stresses which may arise, and circumstances under which they may cause failure of tubbing; proposes single ring of tubbing surrounded by specially constructed sheath of reinforced concrete; discusses security of proposed construction as regards resistance to lat-eral and concentric pressure, and illustrates new types of telescopic joints between lengths of compound tub-bing. (Abstract translated from Glueckauf, Feb. 11 and 18, 1928, pp. 169 and 205.)
