Highway bridge of graceful contour in North Carolina mountains
Structure built by North Carolina State Highway Commission achieves both boldness and beauty by using unsymmetrical side arches; bridge is 580 ft. long consisting of 175-ft. symmetrical arch flanked by 100-ft. unsymmetrical arches and with three 40-ft. deck girder spans on one end and one 40-ft. deck girder span on other; roadway is 20 ft. between curbs; 175-ft. arch span has clear rise of about 80 ft.
