It is claimed that some civil engineers still hesitate to adopt such materials as heat-treated alloy steels for bridge construction on ground: that they are not satisfied as to its permanence; they raise question whether properties imparted to alloy steel by heat treatment may not undergo gradual change in course of time; author examines possible doubts of these engineers and demonstrates their fallacy.
