Photoelastic method for investigating stress distribution in dam web of constant thickness, resting on elastic foundation; method applicable to stress analysis of gravity dam; general case considered when elastic properties of foundations differ from material of dam; investigations made by "frozen-stress" methods in which composite model of dam and foundations were subjected to centrifugal acceleration which amplified body forces and liquid pressure 28 times.
