Kariba dam
Dam is 420 ft high with 2025 ft crest length and 80 ft max thickness; first underground power plant of 600,000 kw is in operation, second of 900,000 kw will be built later; each of 100,000 kw turbine generator units has separate intake structure with 20 ft diam pressure tunnel and 17 ft diam steel lined penstock; erection of dam within cofferdam structure.
