Static theory of seismic coupling of contained underground explosion
According to theory of Latter, Martinelli, and Teller, amplitude of distant seismic signal from completely contained underground explosion is determined by permanent displacement produced in neighborhood of source; static-equilibrium theory of this displacement is developed; Coulomb-Mohr type of yield condition is used to determine stresses in near zone where stresses are beyond elastic limit.
