Dokan dam in Iraq-refrigeration of concrete
117 m high dam containing 380,000 cu m of concrete, was constructed within 12 mo; concrete was cooled before placing, refrigerated after pouring, and generally refrigerated to secure final thermal equilibrium; aggregates were pre-cooled in hoppers by cold water; circulating cold water cooling of cast concrete through embedded coils; method is more economical than use of "Low Heat" cement.
