In tests with Bausch-type apparatus, with deformation rates of 6.4 and 411%/hr, plastic shear was 50 and 12%, respectively, at 22 C and 70 and 30%, respectively, at 300 C; other tests were made on tempered crystals, and after recovery; discussion of stress strain curves obtained leads to conclusion that slip mechanism of NaCl crystals is same as of metals.
