Inhibition of corrosion of steel embedded in mortar
Admixture salts, which are generally metal chlorides, may be used for accelerating set of hydrating cement and also, in conjunction with steam curing, rate of strength development of concrete; metal chlorides, in which cation is in reduced condition (e.g. stannous chloride), accelerate strength gain of mortar and concrete and at same time inhibit corrosion of embedded steel.
