Rectangular concrete stress distribution in ultimate strength design
Design theory is presented based on equivalent rectangular stress distribution in concrete compression zone and in accord with Appendix to 1956 ACI Building Code; method is applied to wide variety of structural concrete beams and columns, subject to various combinations of bending and axial load; experimental results were found to be in good agreement with method.
