Auckland harbour bridge -- Design
Bridge carries 42 ft wide roadway across harbor; its composite reinforced concrete and steel deck is carried by steel trusses in series of cantilever and suspension spans, partly of deck type and partly of through type; total length is 3348 ft, longest span being 800 ft with clearance of 142 ft above high water; reinforced concrete piers are founded at depths down to 104 ft below mean sea level; approaches comprise reinforced concrete and steel viaducts.
