Application of wind tunnel as design laboratory for advanced construction projects; technique was used to advantage on two major building projects in Chicago -- 840 ft high First National Bank Building and New McCormick Place; in first case, test program involved two wood models of different scale, and all structures within one city block of building site; wind velocity selected was 75 mph at height of 30 ft above ground; wind was applied to models at various directions; tests yield useful design data, including extensive documentation of pressure conditions and surface air flow; main reason for second test program was unusual structure involved.
