Cantilever-tied arch design of steel bridge across St. Lawrence River in Quebec; bridge consists of 36 spans, arranged in seven groups involving differing structural types and span lengths; each anchor span is flanked by group of three truss spans, 408 ft, 408 ft and 340 ft long; center span accommodates main navigation channel; clearance gage for shipping is 1000 ft wide; bridge contains four traffic lanes on 48 ft wide roadway; sidewalks 2 ft 6 in. wide are provided on both sides; in through truss spans vertical clearance is limited to 17 ft 3 in.; erection procedure used for approach trusses and main spans.
