Expandable instant bridges
Development of bridge that expands to 30 ft in length, weighs 110 lb and can carry loads of more than 3/4 ton and which can collapse to length 30 times less than its extended span, making transport easy; paper-reinforced honeycomb structure is combined with epoxy and glass fiber to form panels which have been used in bridge surface; prefabricated bridge consists of two main parts -- high-strength aluminum-alloy framework and described deck panels; future possibility in construction of bridge for conventional and military use.
