Advanced structure carries Italian motorway
Carrying highway across linking system with Genoa-Po Valley highway, viaduct towers above road and rail complex of densely built-up Polcevera Valley at heights rising to nearly 150 ft; nine free-standing structures linked by precast beam decks form 3358 ft long prestressed concrete viaduct structure; three tall piers carry suspension cables to support system of large cantilevered spans; prestressing was adopted for part of deck beams across top of each trestle support as well as for supporting cables and spans between standard piers. (19846)
